Italian City Scene

I started working on this painting about 2 weeks ago.  Of course I was working on other painting as well.  I spent a lot of time trying to get the perspective right and then I painted.  It is not finished yet but I really like the colors I put in the shadows.

Doing a Watercolor Painting

I am working on a painting of 4 old men from a small town in Italy. It's my watercolor teacher's photos.  We are working in darker colors which I find very challenging.  Anyway got to pick up my car now.  It's having brake work then going out to lunch with the ladies. Good Day to Paint

Today happens to real cold outside and my basement is real warm.  I am going to do some painting till about 3 and then we're visiting Bruce and Rona.  I am including some photos I took at the Bronx Botanical Garden Train Show.  Below is Yankee Stadium and above the city skyline.

Breakthrough painting

Today I went to class and worked on a 5x7 painting of Oakland Preserve, a photo I took last week when it snowed.  Then I started another painting of a barn and I finished it.  This is a first for me.  I was really in the zone and Howard my oil painter teacher said I had a break through.  What a great feeling.  I am also including a photo of the train painting which I finished and framed.  It is hanging in the National Art League this month in Douglaston.  I am also selling some small painting on ebay, search for VHershfieldart

Snow Paintings

I been in the mood ( I wonder why) to do winter scenes.  I did this train painting.  I want to correct the track and soften the values on the train.  I'll take another photo when I'm done.  Hope everyone is having a great day and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Sunset painting and Skiers Painting

Yesterday we had a holiday party at my oil class at the National Art League.  Lots of very good food and wine.  I did finish my sunset painting and worked on my skiers.  I hope to list them on ebay after the holidays.

Montauk Daisies 2

Well, I'm home with the painters today.  So I painted for awhile on this painting.  I don't know if it is finished.  I think I'll live with it and see.  Time to start something new or finish up another piece.
